David Haye's Knockout Topples Angry Birds and Tops the Charts!

Within a week of releasing ‘David Haye’s Knockout’, Grubby Hands Ltd is proud to announce that their redesigned and re-released iPhone, iPad and iPod touch game has smashed up the App Store and risen to number one!
Claiming the number one spot in the Games and Sports Charts and knocking the globally dominant ‘Angry Birds’ from the number one Arcade Chart position, independent one-man studio, Grubby Hands, is thrilled with their over-night success and the ever-growing popularity of ‘David Haye’s Knockout’.

'David Haye's Knockout' features the British boxer David ‘The Hayemaker’ Haye in action against an array of heavyweight opponents, including the big lump of lard 'D. Boy', strong and sharp 'Big Bro' and the hard as nails 'Little Bro'. This time round, Haye shows no remorse as he throws rapidly skilful combinations and a barrage of taunts to goad and overwhelm his foes and he even unveils a secret weapon when his opponents are almost out for the count!

“I'm delighted with the way the game has sold, and am pleased everybody seems to love the game play,” said Haye. “We released the first version of the game last summer, but this one is unquestionably an improvement in all areas.

“Also, it's clear to me that people are attracted to the game because it's a little edgy and controversial, and far angrier than 'Angry Birds'. There aren't many other games out there that can be ended by a smashed bottle across the face. Whether we like it or not, controversy sells, and I'm no stranger to controversy.

“My next fight against Dereck Chisora on July 14 is a controversial event, and over 40,000 people will be in attendance on the night. Over a million others will be watching the fight at home. Fans want to see a proper fight and they want to see controversy, and this fight on July 14 delivers both.”

Grubby Hands Company Director, Dr Danny Pearce added: “Earlier this week we climbed above 'Angry Birds' in the chart, and that game's sales exceed a billion. It is widely known as one of the bestselling games out there. To topple that game, even for a short period of time, is a tremendous achievement and goes to show how popular David Haye is right now.”

For just $0.99/£0.69/€0.79, defeat your enemies and show them who’s boss!

The real-life David Haye meets bitter rival Dereck Chisora on July 14 at West Ham's Upton Park, live on BoxNation (Sky Channel 456, Virgin 546)

Grubby Hands Limited is an independent games company, best known for their chart-topping iPhone title: ‘David Haye’s Knockout’.

In May 2011, the one-man studio was founded by the Company Director Dr Danny Pearce: taking on the role of programmer, games-designer, artist and animator. Pearce was a Senior Programmer at Activision’s Bizarre Creations where he worked on multi-platform titles: ‘The Club’, ‘Blur’ and ‘James Bond 007: Blood Stone’. In February 2011 Activision decided to close the studio down, after which Pearce set up Grubby Hands.

On 10 June 2011 Grubby Hands released their first iPhone game: ‘David Haye’s Knockout’. ‘David Haye’s Knockout’ immediately topped the iPhone App Store Charts: reaching #1 in the Sports Chart, #3 in the Action Chart, #5 in the Games Chart and #8 in the App Chart.
